External wipers are standard on military pneumatic telescopic masts and optional on commercial telescoping masts. External wipers are offered to prevent sand and dust from getting into heavy-duty and super heavy-duty locking or non-locking pneumatic masts. The synthetic rubber wipers with anodized aluminum retaining flanges are attached to the top of each collar to provide a dust seal between the mating tubes and collars.
